so, i decided to write this blog (hopefully the first in a series of blogs) to let anyone who is interested know what I've been up to here in the UK. also i can avoid having to repeat everything like 300 times. yea, i know i didnt 'just touch down' i touched down last monday in the new terminal 5 at heathrow airport where i was wisked away to the lovely thistle hotel in kensington gardens.
i was unable to get free internet so i picked up a mobile phone with an international plan. if you intend to ring me from the states (though i don't recommend it because it can be quite costly for you) the number is 011-44-750-391-4395. I'm not sure if the international code is the same if you're ringing from another country but i'll let you figure that out. Also, my mobile number will change when i run out of money and switch to the sim card that came with my phone (brits use sim cards and i dont really understand it)
Kensington Gardens was similar to canada in that i ate subway in a park. The peter pan statue hasnt changed since march 2007, but then again, when does anything change in England?
getting to more interesting aspects of my life - i found a beer that i actually like! its called Früli and its strawberry flavoured! delicious delicious! my tolerance for alcohol has definitely increased, likely because i wont drink anything other than water or tea if its not spiked.
anyway, i hooked up with an english bloke called ... shit i forgot his name (its not very important) he ended up staying in my hotel room for the night and i kept waking up and wondering why he was still there, but its ok he was cute.
I finally got to Queen Mary yesterday after a week of orientation and homestay. i stayed with a cute british family in the english countryside! we went to a food festival (free samples of awesome foods, wines, and ciders) and we went shopping in kidderminster (i got awesome shoes)i met 3 of my 5 flatmates yesterday and we went to a traffic light party at the campus bar/club where i had 2 shots of tequila and 3 VKs and didnt throw up! go me! i'm hoping it stays that way for the next three months but i dont count on it. well, i've got to get ready for some international student reception dinner (aka free food)
cheers!
